Barcelona officials, including the president who is under fire (Josep Maria Bartomeu), are scheduled to discuss sweeping changes following the humiliating eight-and-two Champions League quarter-final defeat to Bayern Munich on Friday.

A report from (Esporte Interativo) on Sunday even claimed Messi had decided to leave this summer, although a Barcelona source told (AFP) shortly before the board meeting was due to start that there was still no communication with the club regarding this.

Messi's frustration will be one of the issues that will be discussed with the future of the coach (kuique Setien), who is expected to be sacked.

(Ronald Koeman) emerged as the favorite on Monday to replace Setien given concerns over the suitability of Mauricio Pochettino, who previously said he would never coach Barcelona because of his ties to rivals Espanyol.

Another option is a coach (Barca B Garcia Pimienta), who can supervise more young players before long-term appointments are made after next year's presidential election.

The former midfielder (Barca Xavi Hernandez) would be an option favored by Messi and other senior players, but (xavi) recently signed a new contract with club Qatar Al-Sadd) and refused to work under the current board

Another possible outcome of Monday's meeting is that the club presidential elections, scheduled for June 2021, are brought forward, although they are more likely to advance to the beginning of next year rather than the next few months.

Sports director Eric Abidal will also discuss his future and could be transferred.

Defender Gerard Pique has called for a big change after describing a huge loss to Bayern, Barca's worst defeat in Europe, as their * lowest point *.

But Bartomeu asked for patience. *We are hurt, but once we reach next week we will start making decisions* he told television channel Movistar,,,

* A coach's credibility diminishes when this happens, obviously. That's obvious, but it doesn't bother me now.

* I think what happened today needs to be analyzed from a more perspective * he said
